Affordable Units at 325 Kent in Williamsburg Offered Via Lottery
Here’s a sweet deal in one of the most anticipated redevelopment projects in Brooklyn. An affordable housing lottery is now open for units at the old Domino Sugar factory in Williamsburg. According to Mayor Bill de Blasio and New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) Commissioner Vicki Been, the NYC Housing Connect lottery will be for 104 affordable apartments at 325 Kent Avenue. Deadline to apply is Jan. 30, 2017.
When it’s finished, 325 Kent Avenue will be a 16-story, mixed-use development with a total of 522 apartments, of which 418 units will be at market rate. The building features a 24-hour attended lobby, an on-site resident manager, parking, bike storage, and on-site fitness and recreational activities.
Lottery units include studios, 1-bedrooms and 2-bedrooms. According to income guidelines, eligible applicants must make between $21,772 to $25,400 annually for a single person in a studio or 1 bedroom at a rental price of $596. Salary ranges broaden for 2- and 3-member households ($27,978 to $48,960) while 4-person households are eligible for 2-bedroom units with combined income of $27,978 and $54,360, with monthly rent at $979. Applicants can apply online or ask for an application by mail via self-addressed, stamped envelope: 325 Kent Apts, 243 5th Avenue, Box 425, New York NY 10016.
Otherwise known as “Site E” located between S. 3rd and S. 4th Streets in Williamsburg, the 16-story building at 325 Kent Avenue will be the first residential building completed on the Brooklyn waterfront campus. Two Trees Management, which is developing this multi-building project, will eventually add 2,300 residential units to the DUMBO market at the old sugar refinery site facing the East River.
