On Monday night, Ulhasnagar police arrested one of the four owners of the Goldwin Online Lottery whom they had been looking for for the past three months. Raju Ghanatra has been booked for cheating and forgery and was remanded to four days of police custody.

The four, all residents of Ulhasnagar, claimed that on September 25, they were declared winners of the lottery, which entitled them to Rs 21 lakh (Rs 5 lakh each). “We filled some forms to claim the money, but after a while, the lottery company informed us the results were erroneous and they would declare the results again,” said Shyamdasani.

The four ‘winners’ decided to take up the matter in court. In December, they approached the judicial magistrate’s (First Class) court and filed a private case. “Once the court gave the go-ahead, the police started looking for Mohan Ghanatra, Mahendra Ghanatra, Navin Ghanatra and Raju Ghanatra,” says Bhojwani.

On Monday night, the team headed by assistant police inspector Sunil Kale managed to find Raju.
