$200,000 with Banco and 57 years of marriage: an Estrie resident considers herself to be doubly lucky!

MONTRÉAL, June 30, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ – Estrie resident Suzanne Lussier Godère took home a $200,000 prize in the June 9 Banco draw. “This is the second time I’ve won, since my first prize in life’s lottery are my 57 years of marriage!” the lucky winner admitted during our interview with her, which was conducted virtually to comply with physical distancing requirements.

Suzanne buys tickets for the Banco lottery game (her favourite!) regularly. She plays the same numbers every time, which have a special significance for her.

When she woke up in the early hours of the morning, she decided to check the results of the last draw.

The winner immediately woke up her husband so that he could check the ticket as well. His reaction was palpable: “It can’t be!” he exclaimed, when he found out she’d snagged $200,000 .

Suzanne says she plans on using the tidy sum to buy a new refrigerator, make a few investments and spoil her two children.

You can watch our virtual interview with the winner on Loto-Québec’s YouTube channel (in French only).

COVID-19: How to claim your prize
As part of the collective effort to stop the spread of COVID-19, and to protect the health of its customers and employees, Loto-Québec temporarily suspended in-person prize claims at its prize claim offices on March 18 . We’re asking winners of prizes of $25,000 or more who have a physical lottery ticket to contact Loto-Québec’s customer service team.

Please note: Owners of physical lottery tickets with an expiry date between March 17 and September 17, 2020 , inclusively who’ve won a prize will have an additional six months to claim it. We advise them to hold on to their ticket(s); they’ll be able to claim their prize when things get back to normal. The payment terms for prizes won on lotoquebec.com remain the same.

AstraZeneca says it will likely do another study of COVID-19 vaccine after accidental lower dose shows higher efficacy

AstraZeneca’s CEO told Bloomberg that the pharmaceutical company will likely conduct another global trial of the effectiveness of its COVID-19 vaccine trial, following the disclosure that the more effective dosage in the existing Phase 3 clinical trial was actually administered by accident. AstraZeneca and its partner the University of Oxford reported interim results that showed 62% efficacy for a full two-dose regimen, and a 90% efficacy rate for a half-dose followed by a full dose – which the scientists developing the drug later acknowledged was actually just an accidental administration of what was supposed to be two full doses. The Oxford vaccine’s rollout to the rest of the world likely won’t be affected, according to AstraZeneca’s CEO, since the studies that have been conducted, including safety data, are already in place from participants around the world outside of the U.S.
